“I won’t be a victim of falsehood“ (Fawzia Koofi)

Ms. Fawzia Koofi has been disqualified by the Electoral Complaints Commission of Afghanistan to re-run for her seat in the parliament. The Accusation against her is disingenuous and unverified.

The commission stated in brief that 31 lawmakers have been disqualified for running private armed militias and possession of illegal weapons. Yesterday August 12, Ms. Koofi joined a protest staged by hundreds of her supporters in Fayzabad, Badakhshan province and condemned the accusations against her.

Ms Fawiza Koofi denied links to armed groups and specified that she does not even own an illegal pistol let alone an armed group. Ms. Koofi said her disqualification order came directly from the Presidential misogynist and ethnic centric team.

Fawzia Koofi has served her constituency with great courage and conviction and is an ideal role model for the women of Afghanistan. The electoral commission is being controlled by Arg palace attempting to shut down those lawmakers who have acted as an opposition to them.

Fawzia Koofi has been target of a strenuous campaign for her principled political activism. Three groups want her disqualified: the government for her being a vociferous opponent, radical conservatives for her women’s rights advocacy and ethnic populists for her stance on multi-ethnic democracy.
